Telehealth FAQs
Is telehealth as effective as an in-person visit?
For many types of consultations—especially follow-ups, results reviews, and ongoing management—telehealth is just as effective as in-person visits. You receive the same personalized attention and thorough care. However, initial consultations and certain procedures do require an in-person visit.
Is the telehealth platform secure?
Yes, absolutely. We use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that encrypts all video and audio communications. Your medical information and conversations are completely confidential and protected to the same standards as in-person visits.
Do I need to download special software?
No downloads required. Our telehealth platform works directly in your web browser on any device—computer, tablet, or smartphone. Simply click the secure link in your appointment confirmation email at your scheduled time.
Can I get prescriptions through telehealth?
Yes, when medically appropriate. Our physicians can prescribe medications during telehealth visits, and prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy. Certain controlled substances may require an in-person visit per state regulations.
Is telehealth covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans now cover telehealth visits. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider. We accept most major insurance plans and can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA funds can also be used.
What if I have technical difficulties?
Our team is here to help. If you experience any technical issues before or during your appointment, call our office at (212) 644-9100 and we'll assist you immediately. We can troubleshoot connection issues or convert to a phone call if needed.
