The Whole Picture

You’ve Put in the Effort.
Let’s Review
the Whole Picture.

We review your health history, medications, and daily habits to understand your weight challenges and recommend appropriate changes, testing, or treatment.

Medical Evaluation

Start With a
Medical Evaluation.

Your first visit brings your weight history and current health into one conversation. Testing is selected when it can help answer a specific question or guide treatment.

Your History & Medications

Review when your weight changed, previous weight-loss efforts, current prescriptions, supplements, and relevant family history.

Blood Sugar & Metabolic Health

Assess blood pressure and relevant lab results, which may include blood sugar, cholesterol, and liver and kidney function.

Thyroid & Hormonal Symptoms

Discuss symptoms and life-stage changes that may warrant thyroid or other hormone testing. Your physician explains which tests are appropriate and why.

Nutrition & Eating Patterns

Look at meal timing, portions, appetite, food preferences, and the practical challenges of eating well during a busy week.

Sleep, Stress & Movement

Review sleep quality, daily activity, physical limitations, and stress to identify changes you can realistically maintain.

Body Composition & Goals

Use weight, measurements, and body composition assessment to establish a starting point and agree on meaningful goals.

Your Plan

Build a Plan Around
What You Need.

Your physician brings the findings together into specific recommendations. You will know what to work on, which treatments are being considered, and when to return for a review.

How does your functional medicine approach work?

We review your symptoms, medical history, medications, nutrition, and daily routine together. Testing and treatment recommendations follow that assessment, with scheduled reviews to see how you are responding.

What happens during the first appointment?

Your physician reviews your health and weight history, previous results, current medications, and goals. Bring recent labs and a list of prescriptions and supplements. You will discuss any additional evaluation and the next steps in your care.

Will I need extensive lab testing?

The tests recommended depend on your history, symptoms, and proposed treatment. Your physician explains the purpose of each test, and our team discusses costs before ordering.

Do you prescribe semaglutide or tirzepatide?

When medically appropriate, your physician may prescribe an FDA-approved weight-management product containing one of these medications. Eligibility, medical risks, preferences, availability, and cost all inform the decision. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.

Will I need to follow a strict diet?

Your eating plan is developed around your health needs and preferences. We focus on specific changes you can maintain and review what is working at follow-up visits.

How long will it take to see results?

The pace and amount of weight loss vary. Your physician will discuss realistic expectations based on your starting point and treatment, then review progress over time. Results are not guaranteed.

Does insurance cover the program?

Benefits vary. Consultations, tests, and prescriptions may be covered differently, and some services may require payment out of pocket. Contact our team and your insurer to confirm your benefits and estimated costs.

Can gut health affect my weight?

Researchers are studying the relationship between gut microbes and body weight. Evidence for probiotic weight-loss benefits remains mixed. We assess digestive symptoms on their own merits and discuss the limitations of any proposed test or treatment.

What is the difference between “normal” and “optimal” lab results?

“Normal” generally means a result falls within the laboratory’s reference range. Treatment targets depend on the condition being managed. We explain your results alongside your symptoms and history; an “optimal” label alone does not establish a need for treatment.

What happens when I reach my goal?

We review how to maintain your progress, including nutrition, activity, follow-up, and medication if appropriate. Weight management can require ongoing care, so maintenance is part of your plan from the beginning.
